Emily Cepin is a graduate student in Sustainability Science at Montclair State University, where she is completing a concentration in Sustainability Leadership. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Earth and Environmental Science in 2024 and is pursuing additional graduate studies in library and information science at the State University of New York at Buffalo, reflecting her interests in both sustainability and information literacy.

Emily’s academic and field experience has focused on understanding the causes and consequences of climate change across multiple scales. Her research has included geochemical analyses of the End-Permian Mass Extinction and the Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum, deepening her understanding of Earth system dynamics and past climate disruption. She has also worked as a field assistant on projects examining the impacts of climate change and currently serves as an intern with Seaside Sustainability, where she develops educational initiatives that encourage community engagement and climate action.

As a researcher with the Climate Knowledge Collective (CKC), Emily contributes to projects that promote climate justice through accessible, community-centered knowledge. She is particularly interested in combining sustainability science with information literacy to strengthen public access to reliable environmental information and support informed climate decision-making.
